Marriage |
On August 12th of 1977, I married Nancy Ellen Miller in the chapel of the Methodist Church in Ames, Iowa. It was a small wedding with only her immediate family and her aunt and uncle. My children, Charles and Margaret, were there and my brother surprised us by coming up from Florida, which I was glad for. Nancy’s maid of honor was a gal she knew from Data Processing at Iowa State University. I selected a former student of mine who was also a friend, drinking buddy, and bowling teammate as my best man. We had a dinner for all afterwards at a hall in Boone, Iowa. |
Nancy had completed her Master's degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University. We had both accepted positions in the Computer Science Department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. We quickly found a townhouse apartment that was half of a duplex. We had three cars (1968 Dodge Charger, 1976 Triumph TR7, and 1972 Mercury Capri), a foldout camper, and what little furniture Nancy had. |
